The service

Pacecraft is a companion app for YNAB that mirrors your budget data (read-only) and shows whether your spending is on pace for the month. Pacecraft never modifies anything in your YNAB account.

Pacecraft is not affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with YNAB (You Need A Budget). Your use of YNAB itself is governed by YNAB's own terms.

Your account

Your account is your email address. You sign in with a one-time link we send there, so keeping access to that inbox is how you keep access to Pacecraft — there is no password and no other way in. You can change the address from Settings at any time.

Your YNAB account is connected to your Pacecraft account, not the other way round. Pacecraft is unusable without a connected YNAB budget, but disconnecting or losing access to YNAB does not close your Pacecraft account or affect your ability to manage or cancel a subscription.

Trial and subscription

Every account starts with a 14-day free trial, beginning when you connect a YNAB budget rather than when you sign up — no payment details required. After the trial, a paid subscription is required to keep using the service. Payments are processed by Paddle, our merchant of record; Paddle's checkout terms apply to the purchase. You can cancel anytime from Settings, and you keep access until the end of the paid period. Deleting your account is different: it ends your subscription immediately and removes your data straight away, so you do not keep access for the rest of the period. We don't offer partial refunds for unused time, but if something went wrong, email help@programmingjosh.com and we'll be reasonable.

Your data

How we handle your data is described in the Privacy Policy. In short: we store a copy of your YNAB categories and transactions to compute pacing, your OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest, and you can disconnect and delete all synced data at any time from Settings.

Acceptable use

One account per person. Don't attempt to access other users' data, disrupt the service, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend accounts that do.

Disclaimers

Pacecraft provides informational projections, not financial advice. Pacing math depends on data synced from YNAB and may lag or contain errors. The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind; to the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before a claim.

Changes and termination

We may update these terms; material changes will be announced in the app. You can stop using the service and delete your data at any time. We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice, in which case active subscriptions are refunded pro-rata.
